The 3rd Graders are studying the regions of Georgia, and all the animals that are native to Georgia. Each student chose an animal to illustrate using the process of relief printmaking. A special thank you goes to the PTA for the additional art supplies to help make this possible! The students are studying the art of Peter Max, and creating their own Statue of Liberty portrait in the style of Pop Art. The third graders are exploring tempera painting techniques with florescent tempera paint, and studying the artwork of Peter Max. Peter Max is a Pop Artist that painted several versions of the Statue of Liberty with very bright colors like the one pictured.
On Friday, we had our first Soar Day of the year. Third graders had a blast cutting and gluing paper to create these crazy owls!
The 3rd Graders have been learning about the art element space, and how to create space in a landscape by drawing a foreground, middle ground, and background, and using a technique called overlapping. They also learned about the art principle Variety, and are showing a wide use of variety in their artwork by drawing intricate patterns on their landscapes.
